Who Is Ham Serunjogi?
Ham Serunjogi is a Ugandan who co-founded Chipper Cash and is the company’s CEO.
Personal Life (Early/recent)
Information on Ham Serunjogi’s age and relationship is unknown as of now. However, it is believed that he is in his late 20s.
Ham was motivated in athletics and academics. He started swimming in competitions when he was 6, and that didn’t affect his academics, as he was high performing in both.
Before attending Aga Khan Academy, he competed in the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. Afterward, he enrolled at the Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa, Kenya, earning an IB Diploma in 2012.
While studying at the Academy, he was recognized as the Athlete of the Year 2010/2011. He was also the president of the Academy’s Student Representative Council during his study period. It was also then that he became interested in digital communication.
Ham is a computer-savvy person with good knowledge of leadership, teamwork, Microsoft Office programs, research, data analysis, strategic planning, critical thinking, community outreach, and event planning.
He is a BA degree holder in Economics, as he studied at Grinnell College, Iowa, US, from 2012 to 2016. His studies at Grinnell were on a scholarship he won after graduating from the Aga Khan Academy.
Furthermore, Ham served as an Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer for the Student Government Association (SGA) at Grinnell College. All of these were between April 2014 to May 2016.
Career – Internships, Employments, and Founding of Chipper Cash
Ham Serunjogi has vast internship and working experience acquired in various organizations. He had his first internship at Cleantech Open as a Project Manager Intern from May to August 2013.
Ham also participated in the Fullbridge Internship Edge Program during his Bachelor’s degree education at Grinnell in January 2014. Besides, he was part of the Fullbridge Business Fundamentals program in New York, US, from May to August 2014, as a Program Coordinator Intern.
Afterward, he had another internship with Facebook (now Meta), where he was a Global Accounts Intern from June 2015 to August 2015.
After graduating from college, Ham landed a job with Facebook, UK as a Client Manager, which he managed from August 2016 to August 2018.
Subsequently, he met Maijid Moujaled, and they collaborated to co-found Chipper Cash in 2018. He and Maijid were both alumni of Grinnell and have known each other since then. Ham is currently the CEO, while his co-founder is the President at Chipper Cash.
Chipper Cash is a financial services company headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA. It facilitates money transfers and receipts across several countries.
Ham Serunjogi became a Member of the Grinnell College Board of Trustees in May 2022 and is also among the institution’s Board Investment Committee. That made him the youngest person to become a trustee for Grinnell College.
In 2023, Ham was conferred an honorary degree (Doctor of Social Studies) by his alma mater.
