Who Is Whitemoney?

Whitemoney, whose real name is Hazel Oyeze Onou, is a Nigerian TV reality star, singer, songwriter, and businessman. He is well-known for participating in Big Brother Naija Season 6, which he won.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Whitemoney grew up in Kaduna State, Nigeria, living with his mother, Florence Nwachukwu, and two brothers. His father had abandoned them since he was a kid. He is a native of Enugu State, Nigeria, which makes him an Igbo man to the core. Despite that, he speaks English and Yoruba fluently.

His mother runs a restaurant, and that influenced him to know how to cook various meals. While on the BBN show, he said he could cook any meal.

Whitemoney is a secondary school graduate who has yet to enroll in a university. He wrote the NECO exam but didn’t pursue higher education then due to financial issues.

His father’s family could afford to get him the best education, as they were wealthy, but he didn’t know him. He had to do different hustles to sustain himself before the BBN TV reality show changed his life.

Regarding his marital life and relationship, Whitemoney is currently single. He intends to marry an intelligent and educated woman since he didn’t attend a university.

Career – How Whitemoney Became Famous?

Whitemoney sings hip-hop, Afrobeats, and Afro-Pop music. He is also talented in vocals and can play piano.

Before his acceptance into the BBNaija Shine Ya Eye Edition in 2021, he was already an entrepreneur. He didn’t grow up in Lagos but became a Lagosian when looking for greener pastures. Whitemoney did various businesses, including photography, as well as repairs of generators and telecommunication towers. He also ventured into shoe imports and sales.

Besides, he made pink lip balms and worked as a barber. He was famous in Yaba/Ojuelegba markets for his hustles.

On July 24, 2021, Whitemoney joined the Big Brother Naija Season 6 show as the fifth contestant. In the season’s grand finale, he won with 47% votes against Liquorose, his fellow housemate. He received the grand prize of ₦90 million, consisting of the following:

  • A cash prize of ₦30 million
  • Cash in his Abeg digital wallet

Interestingly, Whitemoney is among the past BBN housemates who returned to the Big Brother house for the All Stars Edition, alongside Kiddwaya, Cee-C, and others. Many believe that Whitemoney uses a strategy to make his audience like him and give him their votes.
