Who Is Nengi?
Rebecca Nengi Hampson, best known as Nengi, is a Nigerian personality renowned for winning multiple beauty pageants. She is also a reality TV star, as she was the second runner-up of Big Brother Naija Season 5 in 2020.
Moreover, Nengi is a businesswoman, actress, and model.
Personal Life (Early/recent)
Nengi is from Nembe-Brass, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Her father is British, while her mother is Nigerian, which makes her a British-Nigerian.
She holds a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Mass Communication from the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
Nengi was the Miss Queen of Trust in 2013. Barely a year after, she was crowned Miss Peace Bayelsa in 2014. She also made it to the Top 5 of Silverbird’s Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2017.
Career – Beauty Pageant Title Holders and BBNaija 2ND Runner-up
Nengi has contested in multiple beauty pageants, starting from 2013. These include the Queen of Trust, which she won in Port Harcourt.
She also participated in the Miss Peace Bayelsa contest in 2014 as Miss Ekeremor. Unlike the first competition held in PH, this particular contest took place in Bayelsa State. Nengi won again, giving her two beauty pageant titles.
Nengi established her own fashion line in 2019, which she called Shoes by Flora. She named it after her late mother, Flora. Just as the name implies, her brand focused on sales of women’s footwear. It gained more popularity when she mentioned it while on the BBNaija show.
On November 1, 2020, her brand became well-known outside Nigeria, winning the BlvckWomxnWorldwide Award for Entrepreneur of the Year.
Regarding her participation in the Big Brother Naija TV reality show Season 7, Nengi was the first Head of House (HOH). She chose Wathoni as her deputy. Her proudest achievement then was being part of the show in 2020. Nengi eventually emerged as the second runner-up at the show’s grand finale.
As an actress, Nengi played the role of Bola in a Nollywood film titled RattleSnake The Ahanna Story (2020).
In addition, Nengi has bagged several endorsement deals. She is the ambassador and influencer for many famous brands, including itel Mobile, Absolute Glamour Cosmetics, Jennys Glow, Remy Martin, Deshapeables, and Payporte.
Nengi also won the Online Influencer Of The Year Award at the 2022 GAGE Awards.
