Sophie Rammal Alakija, popularly known as Sophie Alakija, is a Nollywood actress, model and brand ambassador.

She has been in showbiz since 2010, first as a model before she transitioned into the movie industry in 2017.

Since then, she has featured in over 47 movies and about 5 television series.

The exact role that brought her attention is unknown, but she is renowned for her role in Assistant Madams and Halita.

She is the brand ambassador for Smile, Lipton and she also promotes many beauty products.

Sophie Alakija was born February 8 in Lagos, Nigeria. She is a Lebanese-Nigerian, born to an Islamic Lebanese father and a Nigerian mother from Efik, a tribe in Cross-River State Nigeria.

She has three siblings, an older sister and two brothers Mohammed and Jay Rammal.

Sophie was raised in Lagos, where she had her early education, before moving to Osun State to further her studies.

In 2012, she went to Redeemer’s University, Ede to study and obtain a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature.

Sophie Alakija was married to Wale Alakija, the son of Folorunsho Alakija, a Billionaire business woman.

They got married on March 27, 2016 in Surulere, gave birth to two boys and in 2020 the couple divorced.

Career

Sophie began her career as a model and video vixen in 2010.

She had her first appearance as the lead dancer in Wizkid’s music video titled ‘Holla at your boy’.

Her career as an actress began when she met veteran Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot who encouraged her to audition for movie roles in 2016.

She landed her first role in the 2017 movie ‘Silver Spoon’. In the movie, she acted with Wole Ojo, Yvonne Jegede, and Enyinna Nwigwe.

That same year, she had roles in A Time To Heal, In Our Trap, Ordinary People, A Case Of Freewill and 7 Days In Coma.

She played the lead character alongside Fredrick Leonard and Esther Nkem in the 2019 Nollywood movie ‘Venom’.

The following year, she had her first role in a television series as Altine in ‘Halita’. Her role in the series made her famous.

She had her next role in a television series as Tamara in two episodes of ‘Assistant Madams’.

In 2021, she had a supporting role as Zainab in the emotional family drama film ‘Gone’.

Later in the year, she featured alongside Williams Uchemba, Timini Egbuson and Chibuna Stanley in the comedy drama film ‘Dream Job’.

In 2023, she played the main and supporting character in over eleven Nollywood blockbusters and box office hits.

Some of her latest movies includes A Young Time Ago, A Lot Like Love, Grow Together, Boss Chick, Love Me Less and Maniac 

Sophie is also a model and a brand ambassador, she loves to promote beauty products.
