Who is Tobi Bakre?
Tobiloba Bakre is an outstanding Nigerian actor currently sought after in the Nollywood industry. He rose to fame after finishing up 3rd place in the third season of the Big Brother Naija reality TV show in 2018.
Tobi has starred in several movies, including Fix Us, the Blood Covenant, Lara of Lagos, Brotherhood, Gangs of Lagos, and many more.
He is renowned as one of the most successful former BBN housemates.
Personal Life (Early/recent)
Tobi is the last born amongst the four children of Mr. Femi and Mrs Funke Bakre. He is reportedly from a wealthy family as his father, had worked hard to give his family a better life.
He has three siblings, two sisters and a brother who happens to be the CEO of Kraks TV, Mr. Femi Bakre. Tobi got his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Lagos and graduated with a 2:2 in 2012. He worked in the banking sector for four years before he got into the Big Brother Naija house and skyrocketed to fame.
Tobi married Anu Oladosu, a graduate of the University of Lagos, in August 2021. She was also a one-time contestant of Miss Unilag in 2013. Months after, Tobi became a Dad as his beloved wife gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on December 30, 2021.
Career – Acting, BBN, and Stardom
Tobi rose to stardom after participating in the 3rd edition of the Nigerian version of the reality show Big Brother tagged ‘Double Wahala’ in 2018. Before joining the show, he was an investment banker, working for Laudable Express Limited. He is also a Level-One Certified Financial Analyst (CFA).
As a model, he has served Unilever, Amstel Malta, Lord’s dry gin, Jumia, and many other brands in and out of Nigeria as their ambassador.

Movies and TV Series
Tobi started acting as a character on a Nigerian television show, ‘Hustle,’ where he showed the typical struggle of a returnee coming to Nigeria for the first time.
He also featured alongside Yvonne Nelson and Yvonne Okoro in the movie ‘Fix Us’ before his major cinema break in the film ‘Sugar Rush’ where He played ‘Andy’ which performed significantly well at the box office.
Subsequently, he has appeared in other amazing TV shows such as Jenifa’s Dairy, Phases, Lara of Lagos, The Rattle Snake, MTV Shuga, Outlanders, etc.
Months after, Tobi appeared on our screens again in the movie ‘Gangs of Lagos’ the first Amazon Original Movie from Africa. This time, he played the role of ‘Obalola,’ a boy struggling to get a better life for himself.
Nominations and Awards
Tobi Bakre has been nominated as Best Supporting Actor- English, Most Promising Actor in the 2020 Best of Nollywood Awards. He was also nominated as Most Popular Media Personality by Net Honours and Best Actor in a Movie by Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
However, he has won only one award, the ‘Best Actor in ‘Brotherhood,’ Awarded by AMVCA in 2023.
