Who Is Laycon?

Laycon, whose real name is Olamilekan Massoud Al-Khalifah Agbeleshebioba, is a TV reality star, rapper, media personality, singer, and songwriter. He won the BBN Show in 2020 and has since remained the Youth Ambassador of Ogun State, Nigeria. His appointment to the position occurred on October 6, 2020.

Laycon – Personal Life (Early/recent)

Laycon grew up in Lagos State, Nigeria. Although there are a few misconceptions that he is a native of Lagos State, that’s untrue. Laycon is an indigene of Baluwen, Odeda, Ogun State. He is a sickle cell, with the blood group SC.

He completed his secondary education at Lagos State Model College, Meiran, Lagos, Nigeria. In 2012, he enrolled at the University of Lagos for a BA degree in philosophy. He earned it in 2016 with a Second Class Upper Division.

Laycon is currently unmarried and has no child yet. He has not engaged any woman or talk about his plans to get married soon.

Career – Music, BBNaija, and Awards

Laycon is a renowned musical artist focusing on rap, AfroRap, hip hop, and Afrobeats genres. He is good with vocals, as well as in playing guitar.

He started writing songs and rapping since he was a child. Besides, he was one of the ten artists who performed at the 2014 Coke Studio event at UNILAG.

Laycon was also among the ten finalists of the MTV Base LSB Challenge in 2017.

Before starting his music career, he interned at Latjum Global Nigeria, Lagos, as the CEO and MD’s personal assistant. He was still pursuing his Bachelor’s degree while he had his internship. After graduation, Laycon worked as a sales and business development personnel at Bestman Games, Lagos.

Barely two months after, he became the PA to the assistant director in one of Lagos ministries. His side hustle was freelance writing.

Journey In The Big Brother House

Before joining the BBN TV reality show, Laycon was already signed to a record label, Fierce Nation, in 2019. He joined the show as the #19 contestant on July 19, 2020, and was quick to establish a fanbase for himself. He broke a record of having 1 million Instagram followers while still on the show.

Laycon was also the first to have a blue tick (verified) on his Instagram account out of all housemates in the BBN show that year.

The BBN TV reality show Season 7 ended on September 27, 2020. He got 60% of the total votes during the show’s grand finale.

He won the Season 7 of the Big Brother Naija TV reality show, receiving a grand prize of ₦85 million. The reward comprised a two-bedroom apartment, a Nigerian-made SUV (Innoson G40), home appliances, and a trip to Ireland and Dublin.

On October 6, 2020, the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, made him the youth ambassador. He still holds the position to date.

In 2021, Laycon received a chieftaincy title at the 2021 Opo Day celebration. That made him the Akeweje of Ipokia Kingdom by the Onipokia of Ipokia, Ogun State.

Laycon is an award-winning singer and rapper. He has sung songs with many A-list Nigerian artists, including Mayorkun, Veeiye, Chinko Ekun, Blaqbonez, and Reminisce.

Moreover, he has won a number of prestigious awards, including the Special Recognition Award by City People Music Awards in 2020. The African Entertainment Awards recognized him as the Best New Artist that same year.

He also received two Naijatraffic Awards in 2020, which include the Artist Of The Year Award and EP/Album Of The Year.

In 2021, Laycon received the Most Popular BBNaija Star Award from Net Honours.

Now that Big Brother is bringing some of its past housemates to participate in the All-Star Edition in 2023, Laycon will likely be among them. But until then, let’s hope for the best!
