Who Is Phyna?

Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, aka Phyna, is a Nigerian personality widely known for winning the Big Brother Naija Season 7 TV reality show. She is also renowned as the Hype priestess of Nigeria due to her prowess in hyping.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Phyna is a native of the Esan tribe in Edo. We can’t say much about her personal life, as she disclosed only a few. She grew up in Lagos State, Nigeria, living with her parents: Moses Otabor and Gladys Moses Otabor.

She completed her primary and secondary education in Edo. Afterward, she enrolled at Auchi Polytechnic to study engineering in the same state. Her alma mater is one of the top polytechnics in Nigeria, with over six decades of track record for academic success.

Phyna aspired to become a model, which is part of her reasons for joining the Brother Naija TV reality show, tagged “Level Up” in 2022.

While on the show, she emphasized that she disliked people who kept malice. She’s also hot-tempered, but that doesn’t limit the vibes she brings.

Career – How Phyna Became Famous?

Phyna started her modeling career during her secondary school days in Edo. A modeling agency has already signed her before her acceptance into the BBN show. That makes a commercial model right from time.

She entered the show as the tenth housemate on July 23, 2022. Her fellow housemates include Eloswag, Allysyn, Bella, and Adekunle. The show ended on October 2, 2022, and she emerged as the grand prize winner. Her second runner-up is Bella Okagbue.

Phyna won with 40.74% and received the ₦100 million grand prize, comprising an apartment, a brand new car, etc. She’s the second female to ever win BBN, while Mercy Eke was the first.

She has bagged several endorsement deals since she won the show. For instance, she is presently the brand ambassador of Rixari Skin Secrets, Lekki, Lagos, and the Speedy Weightloss Brand.

Moreover, Phyna is a youth ambassador of the Edo State Government, Nigeria, of which she pledged to fight against drug abuse and human trafficking within the state. She was appointed by the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and the Commissioner of Youth and Sport, Lawani Damian.
