Who Is Tope Tedela?

Temitope Christopher Tedela, popularly known as Tope Tedela, is a Nollywood actor, and producer. He once worked as an on-air personality at UNILAG, a newspaper Editor and a news anchor in NTA.

Since he came to the limelight in 2013, he has featured in over 60 films, he also has 3 upcoming projects, one of which is ‘The House of Secrets’.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Tope Tedela is an indigene of Ekiti State, born 5 June 1990 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the first of the four children born to Mr and Mrs Tedela.

He had all levels of his education in Lagos, Nigeria. His secondary education was at the prestigious Lagos State Model College, Meiran, Lagos.

After which he proceeded to University of Lagos to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.


Tope Tedela began acting while he was a student at the University of Lagos. His debut role was in the 2007 family television series ‘Edge of Paradise’, followed by his role as Sola in the movie ‘Twisted’.

He took a break from acting to focus on his study. During that time he worked as an on-air personality at UNILAG FM.

He also worked as a news anchor for the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).  He also took part in theater shows like ‘Man Talk, Woman Talk’, ‘Diagnosis’ and ‘The Agency’.

Tope returned on-screen in 2013 in the movie ‘The Awakening’, That same year,he had his first lead role as Lala in the Nollywood film ‘A Mile From Home’.

Upon his rise to prominence in 2013, he has appeared onscreen as an actor in several TV series, short and lengthy films like Employee of the Month, Slow Country, Jemeji, Finding Hubby, Cyanide, e.t.c.

He appeared as ‘Dr. Adeboye’ in two episodes of the 2022 Netflix Original Crime Thriller Series ‘Blood Sisters.’

Recently he played Bambino, the main character along with Riyo David in the controversial romantic drama film ‘All the Colours of the World are Between Black and White’. 

His role in the movie earned him a nomination as Best Actor in a Drama, Movie or TV series at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Tope Tedela is the producer and casting director for the movies ‘What Lies Within’ and ‘Country Hard’. He also produced the movie ‘Love-Sha’ in 2021.


Tope Tedela has been nominated for sixteen awards between 2014 and 2023, and he emerged as the winner in these six:

  • Best Actor in a Drama, awarded at the 2014 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
  • Best Actor in a Leading Role (English), awarded at the Best of Nollywood Awards.
  • Most Promising Actor, awarded at the 2014 Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards.
  • Best Actor in a Lead Role, awarded at the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
  • Best Rising Star (Male), awarded at the 2014 Nollywood Movies Awards.
  • Rising Star, awarded at the 2014 Express Star Awards
