Big Brother Naija is the most-watched reality TV show in Nigeria. It was first aired on the MultiChoice direct broadcast satellite service, DStv, on March 5, 2006, as Big Brother Africa, but was discontinued after its first season until January 22, 2017. Many Nigerians have become millionaires through the show, winning endorsements with numerous brands and getting vast popularity nationwide. 1. Whitemoney

Whitemoney, whose real name is Hazel Oyeze Onou, tops our list of the top 5 Big Brother Naija winners ever since the show’s first airing on DStv. He is one of BBN’s past housemates who returned to the reality show for the Season 8 “All-Star Edition”. Whitemoney’s initial participation in the show was in 2021 when he emerged as the winner of the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ Season 6 edition.

His second chance to win the grand prize was in 2023 but was evicted after staying in the Big Brother house for 56 days; Remaining two weeks before the show ended.

Whitemoney has been singing before his initial participation in his show. So, he furthered his musical career and released a single ‘Selense’ after winning the BBN 2021 show. He recently started to import designer shoes to sell in Nigeria.

Despite winning the BBN Season 5 show a few years ago, Laycon remains popular amongst people who have participated and won the constantly-rising grand prize over the years.

The owner of Fierce Nation, Olugbenga Jackson, signed him to his record label in 2019 and produced his viral song, “Fierce” ft. Chinko Ekun and Reminisce.

In April 2023, he earned an MA degree in International Relations from a UK academic institution, the University of Portsmouth.

Laycon is the current Youth Ambassador of Ogun State, Nigeria, and an advocate against wildlife crimes in Nigeria. He also owns a foundation called Laycon Cares Foundation, which spreads awareness about sickle cell and aims to stop its stigmatization.

3. Phyna

Phyna, whose full name is Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, won the Big Brother Naija Season 7 show in 2022. She received a grand prize of ₦100 million in the reality TV show tagged Level Up, which consisted of ₦50 million cheque, an apartment in Lagos, an Innoson SUV, and items similar to those won by other BBN winners.

After leaving the BBN show, Phyna started taking movie roles, featuring in many Nollywood films and skits. She starred as Osato in Osato (2023), as Mabel in Leaving Beauty (Produced by Mike Ezuruonye in 2023), and played a major role in Mercy Aigbe’s Blockbuster movie, Ada Omo Daddy. She also models and has served many brands.

Phyna started an event planning and ushering company in 2023 under the First Phyna Enterprise trade name.

4. Efe

Remember about seven years ago, a song by a BBN housemate went viral, featuring Olamide. The song titled ‘Warri’ praised the people of Efe’s hometown and how they always made it to the top. If you’ve listened to the song titled Warri featuring Olamide, then you must know Efe.

His full name is Michael Efe Ejeba and is the winner of the Big Brother Naija season 2 ‘See Gobe’ show in 2017. However, his grand prize is quite lesser compared to other winners, as he received a sum of ₦25 million.

Efe hasn’t got much going since he won the show’s grand prize. He has focused on his musical career and has released several albums, EPs, and singles.

5. Miracle

Miracle Igbokwe won the Big Brother Naija season 3 show in 2018. He received a ₦25 million cheque, a brand new Hyundai SUV, and was opportune to go on multiple all-expense paid trips for this achievement. Unlike other winners of the Big Brother Naija show, Miracle is neither a singer nor an actor. He doesn’t seem interested in the entertainment industry.

After his win, he traveled overseas to further his education in a US aviation school and earned his Instrument Rating for flights. He has been enrolled in the institution before he joined the show. He had also earned a Private Pilot License and Flight Dispatcher License prior to this time.

Miracle currently works as a pilot for an airline or employer unknown at this moment.
