Comedy skits are the most-watched content in Nigeria. Day by day, more Nigerians become content creators, producing short videos that make people laugh out loud and feel happy in various unique ways. This article will let you know the top 10 skit makers in Nigeria and their style of videos.

Taaooma, whose full name is Maryam Apaokagi, is one of the most popular skit-makers in Nigeria. She is famous for playing different roles in her skits, such as Kunle, Iya Tao/Ronke, Tao, Uncle Laolu, Tayo, Teni, and E-Sulie.

Taaooma is well-versed in video editing and she edits her videos by herself. She was taught by her husband, Abdulaziz Oladimeji-Greene, popularly known as Abula. He is a cinematographer and music video director, as well as the owner of The Greenade Company.

She recently ventured into music and has released a few songs. These include ANONYMOUS (feat. Phat and Faye), Check (ft. Liya), and Tuli Koma Vybz (ft. Tolibian and Kandilu).

Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly called Broda Shaggi, is an award-winning skit maker in Nigeria. Not only is he a skit maker, but also a Nigerian actor and singer. He is part of the success stories of a few other skit makers in Nigeria. An example is Officer Woos who played the role of a junior police officer to Shaggi.

Broda Shaggi started his comedy career in 2017 by forming a group at UNILAG, which he named the Stage Addict. He has won two AMVCA Best Actor awards in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

4. Cute Abiola

Of course, who does not know Lawyer Kunle, aka Ankara Gucci or Cute Abiola in the Nigerian entertainment industry? His real name is Abdulgafar Abiola. He has been acting in comedy since his secondary school days but wasn’t famous until around 2019.

The Cute Abiola made comedy skits while serving the Nigerian Navy. He violated the armed forces’ social media policy on several occasions, which made him undergo harsh punishments. In November 2022, he resigned from being a Nigerian Navy personnel.

He is currently Kwara State Governor’s Special Assistant on Creative Industries, which he resumed office after leaving the Nigerian Navy in 2022.

5. MC Lively

MC Lively

MC Lively, whose real name is Michael Sani Amanesi, is a famous skit maker in Nigeria. He started in 2015 and became popular through his Agidi skits where he commented on real-life events and issues happening in Nigeria.

An interesting fact about him is that he has been called to the bar but he chose to be a comedian. His role in skits is usually as a lawyer, Barrister Mike (BM). He won the Comedy Act of the Year award by City People Music Award. Ooni of Ife also awarded him the Royal African Youth Leadership Award.

6. Brainjotter


Chukwuebuka Emmanuel Amuzie, popularly known as Brainjotter is also among the top 10 skit makers in Nigeria. His role models are Kelvin Hart and Basketmouth.

You will know him for his funny dance moves and ‘I don’t care attitude’ in his skits. He is one of those comedians who does not need to say anything to crack your ribs; only his actions will perform the magic. He once created cross-dressing skits but had to stop because he felt it was unsustainable for him.

Brainjotter has been nominated for several popular awards, including the GAGE Award for the Online Comedian of the Year and the NET Honours.
