Taaooma – Full Biography

This post is about Maryam Apaokagi, a comedian and social media influencer popularly known as Taaooma.

Who Is Taaooma?

Maryam Apaokagi, aka, Taaooma, is not only a social media influencer, as you’d already know, but also the founder of a Lagos-based food company, Chop Tao.

She is renowned for playing multiple roles in her skits, some of which include Kunle (father), Teni (younger sister), Iya Taaoo/Ronke (mother), Tayo (brother), Uncle Laolu, and E-Sulie, the agbo seller.

She edits her skits herself, as her husband, Abdulaziz Oladimeji-Greene, aka Abula, already taught her the basics of video editing.

Abula is a creative director and the CEO of The Greenade Company, a film production company based in Lekki, Lagos. The company serves the Nigerian entertainment industry and has directed music videos for many A-list artists, including Portable, Falz, Zlatan, and Olamide.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Taaooma earned a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism & Travel Service Management in 2019 at Kwara State University.

She completed her NYSC in Lagos State in 2020. While growing up, she wanted to be a medical doctor and subsequently wished to become a lawyer. She couldn’t get admission to an LLB program at the university, as she was accepted to study Tourism.

Taaooma got wedded on January 24, 2021, barely three months after Abula engaged her in Namibia. She spent most of her childhood in this same country.

Career – Her Rise to Stardom

Taaooma started creating online skits in 2015 and is among the most popular online comedians in Nigeria. The video editing skills she acquired from Abula allowed her to have an edge when starting online comedy. She watched a lot of YouTube videos to improve her editing skills.

She came to the limelight in 2019 when her skit, “When your mother takes you to school, “ got viral on several blogs.

Her skits are typically about how African mothers discipline their discipline, especially with a backhand slap. She has created more than 150 comedy skits with this concept.
