Who Is Shaffy Bello?

Shaffy Bello is a popular Nollywood actress well-known for her roles in English and Yoruba films. Her first point of interest in the entertainment industry was as a vocalist in 1997 before she switched career to acting in 2011.

Some of her latest appearances between 2022 and 2023 were in award-winning films like Deity (Orísa), Big Love, Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman, One Bad Turn, Before Valentine’s, Head Over Bills, and Chief Daddy 2.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Shaffy Bello completed her primary and secondary education in Nigeria before relocating to the United States in 1987 to pursue a degree. She is married to Mr. Akinrimisi, a US-based Nigerian, since 1995. The following year, she had her first child, Ashley Bello on November 23. Two years later, her second child Ashton Bello was born on July 9.

Shaffy lived with her family in America and traveled to Nigeria to take up movie roles, until 2020 when she decided to call it quits with her husband.  When the divorce was finalized, she moved permanently to Nigeria to focus wholly on her career 

Both of her children are doing well for themselves. Ashley is a Cosmetologist, brand ambassador and a YouTube star, while Ashton is an image consultant, fashion designer and a model.

Career

Shaffy started out in the entertainment industry as a vocalist in Seyi Sodimu’s song ‘Love Me Jeje’ in 1997.

Her debut role as an actress was in a Yoruba movie titled ‘Eti Keta’ that aired in 2011. The following year she played Joanne in Tinsel and Adesuwa in Taste of Love.

Since then she has featured in over 53 English and Yoruba movies like The Seed, It’s Her Day, Gbomo Gbomo Express, Excess Luggage, Voiceless Screams, From Lagos with Love, etc.

In 2014, she had her first role in a TV series as Victoria Attah in the 5 episode series ‘Newman street’. 

Her next role in a series was as Adaora Badmus in the 2017 Africa Magic Original series ‘Battleground’.

In 2019, she portrayed Laide Ajadi in the fourth highest grossing Nigerian film of 2019 ‘Your Excellency’. In the Nigerian political satire comedy film, she starred with Akin Lewis, Funke Akindele, Eku Edewor, and Deyemi Okanlawon.

Later in 2020, she played the character of Dr. Fatima Awolowo in the horror mystery film ‘Nneka the Pretty Serpent’.

Apart from acting, Shaffy Bello is also a skincare enthusiast, brand ambassador, and philanthropist.
