Personal Life (Early/recent)

Peterson Quinmari was born on January 28, 2002, in Gary, Indiana. His journey to stardom began on the playgrounds of his hometown, where his passion for the game ignited. Born in Gary, Indiana, basketball was practically in Quimari Peterson’s blood from the ghetto.

His father, Tierney Peterson, played college basketball at Indiana State, and his mother, Latrina Peterson, was a standout athlete. This athletic lineage instilled in Quimari a deep love for basketball, and he honed his skills on the courts of West Side High School.

Peterson Quimari became a force to be reckoned with, averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game during his senior season. His leadership and talent led West Side to a 22-5 record and their first sectional and regional titles since 2004.

Peterson’s high school success paved the way for a bright college career. He initially enrolled at Indiana State University, following in his father’s footsteps.

However, after one season, he transferred to John A. Logan College in Illinois. He said he wanted a program that would allow him to explore his talent to the fullest. Thankfully, this decision proved fruitful.

Career

At John A. Logan, Peterson blossomed into a dominant player. Consequently averaging 13.5 points, 4.7 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game. 

These exceptional playmaking abilities and efficient scoring became important to the team’s success. He had a strong season and gained recognition as one of the nation’s top junior college players.

Quimari Peterson

In 2023, Peterson took his talents to the Division I level, joining the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. He soon made an impact, establishing himself as an important player in the Buccaneers’ offense.

As of December 31, 2023, Peterson has averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game for the Buccaneers. He is a leader on the court, inspiring his teammates with his hustle and determination. His future looks bright, and he has the potential to become a star in the NCAA and beyond.

Outside the court, Peterson is a dedicated student and a responsible young man. He is actively involved in the East Tennessee State community and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
