Nengi Elizabeth Adoki, popularly known as Nengi Adoki, is a stage performer, movie director, actress, and show host. She started her career with personal projects and shows while still in school. That gave her the experiences and recognition she used to get lead roles in stage plays that brought her to the limelight.

She is famous for her roles in musical theater dramas such as Heartbeat the Musical and Wakaa the Musical.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Nengi Adoki is an indigene of Port Harcourt, Rivers, Nigeria, born on January 17, 1990.

She graduated from the University of Toronto in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts and Information Technology.

The following year, she acquired a certificate in Performing Arts Preparation at Sheridan College, where she participated in many school production projects.

Career

While studying at the University of Toronto, Nengi Adoki spent five years directing, acting, and producing her shows. One of her shows, ‘Sync Afrique’ won grants and financial aid of about $10,000.

She also founded an acting group known as ‘Just Rich Men,’ which performed a group play at Mist Theater in Japan titled ‘Just Reach Mehn.’

Nengi started her career in the movie industry with a Toronto-based agency run by Larry Goldhar, ‘The Characters.’ She featured in several short films and TV series while with the agency. These include The Lost Girl and Meet the Parents.

She also worked at the Cahoots Theater and as a crew member for the play ‘Death and the King’s Houseman,’ which was written by Wole Soyinka and staged in Toronto in 2017.

She returned to Nigeria in 2015 to progress her career in the entertainment industry. Her debut acting role was in ‘Wakaa The Musical,’ where she played the lead role as Kike Johnson in 2016.

She is also known for her role as ‘Arinola’ in Heartbeat the Musical, a Nigerian musical drama produced by Joke Silva.

Nengi has starred in several Nollywood movies such as Juju Stories, Baby Drama, Little Black Book, The Men’s Club, Back to School, Inspector K, Chartroom, and Trade.

She starred alongside Shaffy Bello, Ayoola Ayolola, Baaj Adebule, and Sharon Ooja in the web series ‘The Men’s Club,’ where she acted as Lola Doregos.

Nengi Adoki was nominated under the acting category by the Future Awards Africa (26th edition) for her role in Juju Stories.
