Who Is Meg Otanwa?

Meg Otanwa is a Nollywood actress, model and a brand influencer. She began her career as a banker in African Development Bank in Tunis, Tunisia. Then she took the bold step of resigning from her job to take up a career in acting.

She had her first movie role in the 2011 movie ‘I’ll Take my Chances’ and she came into the limelight after her role in the 2016 television series ‘Hush’.

According to her, she aspires to be a global actress with a lot of economic advantage. She has 79.2 followers on Instagram and she’s estimated to be worth $200,000.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Meg Otanwa was born February 14 in Nigeria. She is an indigene of Idoma tribe in Benue a North-central  State of Nigeria, but she grew up in Lagos for a while. She grew up in a large and close knit family with nine siblings. Her family is polyglot. So she speaks over four languages including English, Yoruba, Hausa and Idoma.

Meg learnt to speak French when she schooled and worked in Tunisia. She also learnt to speak some Spanish.

She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. 

Meg went on to acquire a Masters degree in Human Resource Management at TIME University Tunis, Tunisia. She got another Master’s degree, this time in Business Administration at Jean Moulin University, Lyon, France.


Meg Otanwa began her career as a staff at African Development Bank in Tunis, Tunisia. She worked in the banking sector for a long time before resigning to take up a career in the movie industry. 

Her debut role as an actress was in the 2011 movie ‘I’ll Take my Chances’. Meg Otanwa is very popular for her role as Koko Agunbiade in the 2016 television series ‘Hush’, which she featured alongside Richard Mofe-Damijo, Baaj Adebule and Mawuli Gavor.

Since then, she has featured in several short and lengthy movies like Lotanna, Payday, Time Looped, For Maria Ebun Pataki, Zubaida, Inside Life, e.t.c. 

In 2021, she played ‘Tosan’ alongside Jimmy Odukoya, Kate Henshaw, Ini Dima-Okojie and Deyemi Okanlawon in the faith based movie ‘The Wait’.

That same year, she was cast as Justina, in the 2021 crime comedy drama film ‘Soole’. Starring Adunni Ade, Sola Sobowale, Lateef Adedimeji and Femi Jacobs.

Her most recent role was as Yvonne Ezinna in the 2023 Nollywood film ‘Married to Work’.

She also indulges in Karate, as she refers to herself as a real ‘Karateka’. She posts pictures of her Karate training on Instagram on most Saturdays.

Meg Otanwa won the Best Actress in a Drama at the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
