Matty was born on August 7, 1997, in Slough, England. He attended St. Joseph Catholic high school, Slough.

Career as a Footballer and Defender
Matty started his career at 13 with Wycombe Wanderers in 2010 and was later released to the FAB Academy in 2013. He stayed there for 16 months before signing his first contract with Nottingham Forest.
His first games in professional football were on loan at League Two club Dagenham & Redbridge, which he joined on March 4, 2016. He scored his first goal for the Daggers on March 12, 2016.
