Matthew Christopher McKay, popularly known as Matthew McKay, is an American football player. He plays quarterback for the San Antonio Brahmas.
Before he transitioned into professional American football, he played high school and college football.
He is 6 ft 4 inches tall and weighs 96 kg.
Matthew McKay was born on October 21, 19,99 in his hometown Raleigh, North Carolina.
He attended Wakefield High School, Raleigh. While he was in high school, he was part of the school’s football team.
During his time at Wakefield High School, he threw for 5,932 yards and 58 touchdowns along with 2,386 rushing yards and 39 rushing touchdowns.
Between 2014 to 2017, from his sophomore to senior year, he was a three-time First Team All-League.
By the end of his high school education, Rivals.com ranked him as the third-best quarterback in North Carolina and the 41st-best player in the entire state.
On February 27, 2016, Matthew McKay decided to play college football for North Carolina State University.
North Carolina State University
Following his decision to play college football with the NC State Wolfpack football, he was admitted to North Carolina State University.
In the 2017 season, Matthew was redshirted. That same year, he was the Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year.
He took part in five games in the 2018 season, during which he completed seven of his eight pass attempts.
He had his highest-yard throw in the game against Louisville and he scored his first career touchdown against Georgia State in the same year.
In 2019, he played in six games during which he had a notable record of 910 throwing yards, three passing touchdowns and he completed 86 of his 150 passes.
After the 2019 season, he announced that he would transfer from the school.
Montana State University
In December 2019, Matthew McKay transferred to Montana State University, where he joined their football team.
The Montana State Bobcats football chose to opt out of the 2020 spring season.
In 2021, Matthew took part in eleven games, during which, he recorded 153-of-248 for 2,037 passing yards along with seventeen touchdowns and three interceptions.
After he was benched as a freshman, Matthew McKay announced that he was going to transfer again.
In 2022, he transferred to Elon University and joined the Elon Phoenix football team.
He took part in all the twelve games that the Elon Phoenix played in the 2022 season.
He finished the season completing 197 of his 323 passes for a career-high 21 touchdowns and four interceptions.
San Antonio Brahmas
After declaring his intentions for the draft in the 2023 NFL draft, he still went undrafted during their draft picks.
On October 18, Matthew McKay signed a letter of intent with the San Antonio Brahmas of the United Football League.
