John Christopher Depp II is an actor, film producer, musician, and writer. He gained popularity for his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Johnny is a descendant of Elizabeth Key Grinstead, one of the first African-American women who gained freedom after suing against her slavery.

He is the youngest child in his family. His father, John Christopher Depp, was a civil engineer, while his mother, Betty Sue Depp, worked as a waitress.

His family was initially settled in Miramar, Florida until his parents divorced in 1978. Then he was 15 years of age. His mother remarried Robert Palmer, who inspired him to follow his dream.

John learned to strum using the guitar his mother gave him when he was 12. He was getting good at it, so he joined a band to play with them.

In 1979, he took the risk and dropped out of high school to become a rock musician. He tried to return to school, but his principal encouraged him to pursue his career.

Johnny Depp married for the first time in December 1983 to a makeup artist, Lori Anne Allison. She is the sister of his bandmate and bassist. Their union barely lasted two years, as they divorced in 1985. He has had several other partners and other marriages.

He dated a French singer, Vanessa Paradis, from 1998 to 2012. She had two children for him, including Lily-Rose Depp, a famous actress and singer.

Johnny Depp remarried in 2015 to Amber Heard, an American actress, social activist, and humanitarian. They called it quits in 2017 after several alleged abuses and lawsuits.

Even though Johnny currently lives in London, England, he owns several properties and estates, including a £13 million estate in Somerset, England.

John started his music career by joining a band known as The Kids. The band was renamed the Six Gun Method when it moved to Los Angeles to get a record deal.

His band split up in 1984, making him work with another band called the Rock City Angels. He also co-wrote a song with the band.

Johnny Depp’s filmography career began in the 2000s. Acting Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean made him one of the most successful actors in the industry. The Guinness World Records (GWR) recognized him as the highest-paid actor in the world. Then, he earned approximately $75 million yearly.


Johnny Depp started producing films in 2011 through his own film production company, Infinitum Nihil.
