Israel Mobolaji Adesanya is a professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter and kickboxer. He was formerly a boxer and was able to win five fights professionally. Also known as The Stylebender, he fights out of Auckland, New Zealand, and competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight division.

Personal life (Early/recent)

Israel Adesanya is the eldest of five children and was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He could speak multiple languages, such as English, Nigerian Pidgin, and Yoruba. His father, Femi was an accountant, while his mother, Taiwo, worked as a nurse. He attended Chrisland School, Lagos, where he was part of its Taekwondo club. Not long after, he had to leave after suffering an injury.

In 1999, he and his family moved to Ghana, where they stayed for ten months. They subsequently relocated to Rotorua, New Zealand. He then enrolled in Rotorua Boys’ High School but didn’t participate in sports throughout his study period. He was a die-hard fan of the manga series Naruto and the Japanese anime like Death Note. During his high school days, he experienced a lot of bully, making him decide to learn martial arts.

Israel attended the Universal College of Learning in Whanganui, New Zealand, where he earned a B.Sc. in Computer Design. He started kickboxing training when he clocked 18.

At about age 20, he decided to drop out of school to start a career in kickboxing. He relocated to Auckland, NZ, at 21 years old and joined an MMA training at City Kickboxing.
