Who Is Ireti Doyle?

Iretiola Olusola Ayinke Doyle, popularly known as Ireti Doyle, is a host, presenter and a Nollywood actress. 

The exact movie that brought her into the limelight is unknown, but she is very famous for her role in Fifty, Tinsel, Merry Men, The Wedding Party and Flawsome.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Ireti Doyle was born in Ondo State, Nigeria, on May 3, 1967. Shortly after, her family moved to Boston, United States. Few years later, they returned to Nigeria 

Upon her return to Nigeria, she attended Christ’s School Ado Ekiti for her secondary education. 

After which, she proceeded to obtain a Diploma in Mass Communication and a Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts from the University of Jos, Plateau.

At the age of 17, she gave birth to a baby girl, Ngozikachi Abimbola Ozofor. Who is currently 39 years old. Her daughter is a consultant at the Ruff n Tumble clothing store and owner of Kachi hair products.

On December 21, 2004, she got married to Patrick Doyle, A veteran actor and broadcaster. Ireti is Patrick’s second wife, since he lost his first wife to the cold hands of death.

Patrick and Ireti Doyle have 5 children together.

In 2017, their marriage went through a rough trot, and she left Patrick’s house. Currently the state of her marital life is unknown.

Career

Ireti Doyle began acting as a third year student at the University of Jos. While her school was on a break due to lecturers’ strike, she decided to audition for a role in a television series titled ‘Riddles and Hopes’ in 1995.

Since then, Ireti has appeared in several television series like Gidi Up, Tinsel, Fifty, The Sojjis, Flawsome, The Power and African Twist.

In 2000, she created, hosted and presented her fashion show ‘Oge with Iretiola’. The show went on for eleven years. She also anchored a few television shows like Morning Ride, Today On STV, and Nimasa This Week on Channels TV.

Ireti played the lead role as Ovo alongside Monalisa Chinda and Joseph Benjamin in the 2013 psychological thriller film ‘Torn’.

She is popular for her role as Dr. Elizabeth in 2015 Nollywood film ‘Fifty’, Her role in the movie earned her a nomination for Best Actress in a Lead Role at the 2016 Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Ireti Doyle has appeared on screen with several Nollywood stars in so many award winning movies some of which includes The Wedding Party 1 and 2, The Therapist, Merry Men 1 and 2, Something Wicked, 1929: Women War, Dinner, etc. 

In 2022, She was a cast member for the movie ‘C.O.L.D’, which she played alongside Pete Edochie, IK Ogbonna, Hilda Dokubo and Richard Mofe-Damijo.

Her most recent role in a movie was as Commissioner in ‘The Black Book’ and Mrs. Dame in ‘Merry Men 3: Nemesis’. She also played a role in ‘Mínéé: Laws of the Street’, that is slated to be released November 3, 2023 in all Cinemas.

Ireti has also tried her hands on movie production, she was the Associate Producer for the 2023 series ‘African Twist’.

On July 24, 2023 she spoke at the Third edition of the annual ‘Teens Think Essay Competition’. In her speech, she highlighted the cultural integration and the challenges facing teens in today’s society.

  • Best Actress in a Lead Role at the GIAMA Award, Houston, Texas in 2013
  • Best Actress in a Lead Role for her role in ‘Torn’, awarded at the 2014 Nollywood Movie Awards.
  • Actress of the Year Award, during the Late Ambassador Segun Olusola NBMA in 2016.
