Who are the Iowa Barnstormers?

The Iowa Barnstormers is an American pro indoor football team founded in 1995. Their headquarters is in Des Moines, Iowa, where they play their home games at the Wells Fargo Arena, also known as “The Well”. The Barnstormers are currently part of the Indoor Football League (IFL) Eastern Conference. Their official team colors are white, red, grey, gold, and black.

With over ten playoff appearances, the Barnstormers team has won two Conference Championships in 1996 and 1997 respectively and League Championship in 2018. They have also won five Division Championships in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2009.

History

The Iowa Barnstormers was founded as an expansion team approved by the Arena Football League on April 25, 1994. The league wanted the team to be Des Moines-based in Iowa and play in the 1995 season. They played their first game on May 12, 1995, against the Milwaukee Mustangs. The team also played a home game against the Miami Hooters on May 20, 1995, winning 41–29.
