Who Is Genoveva Umeh?

Genoveva Kenechukwu Umeh, popularly known as Genoveva Umeh, is one of the latest actresses in the Nollywood industry. She started acting in 2018 and became famous for her role as ‘Timeyin Ademola’ in the Netflix Original Crime Series ‘Blood Sisters’ in 2022.

Genoveva once saw acting as a hobby until she realized how passionate she was about it and chose it as her full-time career.

Her current net worth is $70,000.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Genoveva Umeh is the first and only daughter of Mr. Gaius and Mrs. Ifeoma Umeh. She has only one sibling. Although her family hails from Anambra State, Nigeria, she was born in Enugu State.

Her father is a computer engineer, while her mother is a Registered Nurse.

She attended 1st Cyprian Primary School in Abakpa Nike, Enugu, and Command Day Primary School in Enugu, for her primary education. Afterward, she enrolled for her secondary education at Command Secondary School, Enugu, before her family relocated to the United Kingdom in 2006. She then completed her secondary education at St Mary’s and St John’s CE High School in London.

Genoveva also attended a part-time drama school, ‘Identity School of Acting,’ in 2012 in the UL before she pursued a Law degree at the University of Surrey, England, in 2018.

She eventually returned to Nigeria and attended Ebonylife Creative Academy, Lagos, to showcase her talent and sharpen her acting skills.

Career

Genoveva Umeh started her career with theatre and stage performance, having performed in a play while in the UK.

Upon returning to Nigeria in 2018, she wrote a play titled ‘Home,’ which she performed at Lagos Fringe Festival 2018 in Lagos, Nigeria, and Bloemfontein, South Africa, in 2019.

She also performed in a stage play by Rue14 studios titled ‘High.’ The play created awareness of drug abuse among teenagers.

Genoveva landed her first on-screen acting role in 2019, featuring in ‘Love is War.’ The following year, she booked a lead role in the movie ‘A Tune Away,’ which got her nominated as the Best Actress at the 2022 AMVCA.

She also acted as Anita in ‘One Lagos Night’ and as Khafilat in the short film ‘Lizard.’

While studying at Ebonylife Creative Academy, she featured in short films like ‘Focus,’ ‘Reflection,’ ‘IJO,’ and ‘Monitoring Spirit.’ During her stay at the academy, a director at the Academy Director Kenneth Gyang, noticed her and recommended her to the owner of the Academy, Mo Abudu, to audition for a role in the Netflix Original Crime Series ‘Blood Sisters.’

She got the role and played ‘Timeyin Ademola,’ the drug addict of the family. Shortly after, she acted as Zina in the series ‘Far From Home.’

Other TV series and movies that Genoveva Umeh has featured include Temi’s Dairy, All Good Things, Breath of Life, The Crazy Wife, and Survivor’s Guilt.

She was nominated for Best Actress (for her role in ‘A Turn Away’) at the 2022 AMVCA.
