Who is Diondre Overton?

Diondre Overton is an American football player who is a wide receiver for the Memphis Showboats. He stands at 6’ 4” and weighs 210 pounds. Diondre has played for several football teams, both in off-seasons and as a practice squad member. These include Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Vienna Vikings, Philadelphia Stars, Pittsburgh Maulers, and Memphis Showboats.

Diondre is well-known as the 2018 CFP National Champion for participating in the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship played on January 7.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Diondre Overton was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, on April 19, 1998. He attended Walter Hines Page Senior High School located in the same city, where he played both football and basketball. Diondre scored 15 touchdowns and rushed for 1,251 yards during his senior year. 247Sports ranked him as the #4 Overall Prospect in North Carolina.

He was also part of the Clemson Tigers at Clemson University in South Carolina, where he was a team captain and an Academic All-ACC selection. Diondre earned the Offensive Player for winning in a game played against the Boston College Eagles football team. He was also recognized as the ACC Receiver of the Week honors.

Diondre graduated from Clemson majoring in Sports Communication and having won two national championships and recorded 7 touchdowns and 52 catches for 777 yards.

After his graduation, he completed a micro-internship program with Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in 2019.

Career

Diondre Overton was undrafted in 2020 and signed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (a member of the Canadian Football League) in June 2021. The team released him shortly afterwards. Vienna Vikings, a member of the European League of Football (EFL) signed him about five months later in November 2021.

The Philadelphia Stars football team (a USFL member) chose him in the 16th round of the 2022 USFL draft. He had a hamstring strain and was considered inactive to play in a game against the Tampa Bay Bandits on May 21, 2022.

Pittsburgh Maulers signed Diondre Overton on October 4, 2023, and he was part of the team until they dissolved.

Memphis Showboats then chose him in the 2024 UFL dispersal draft on January 5, 2024. Diondre still plays for them as a wide receiver.
