Who Is Deyemi Okanlawon?

Adeyemi Okanlawon, popularly known as Deyemi Okanlawon, is a Nollywood actor, film producer, and marketing executive.

He is famous for his roles in several award-winning movies, such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga, King of Boys: The Return of the King, Swallow, Castle & Castle, Blood Sisters, and Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman.

Deyemi is a media personality passionate about entertainment, marketing, and acting. He is the founder of Covenant Entertainment Services.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Deyemi Okanlawon was born on April 19, 1979 in Lagos, Nigeria. His father, Adeyemi, is an aircraft engineer, while his mother, Adeyinka, is an entrepreneur and a baker.

He attended Taikenny Primary School, Lagos, for his primary education and International School Lagos for his secondary education. Afterward, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Lagos. He then attended the New York Film Academy.

Deyemi is married to Damilola, a Key account manager at Danone Nigeria, whom he met while at the university. They dated for two years and married in January 2013. 

They have two children together: Demide and Adeife Oluwatunwase Okanlawon.


Deyemi was a marketing executive at OLX Nigeria before he started acting in 2010. The first movie he featured in was ZR-7 (2010). He later appeared in a short film titled ‘A Grain of Wheat.’ In 2012, he was famous for his role as an actor and a producer of short films, especially those made for the internet, like Knock-knock, Blink, and 6:30 p.m.

A year later, he decided to focus on acting full-time. Since then, he has featured in over 45 movies, including Road To Yesterday, A Place Called Happy, Perfect Imperfection, and If Tomorrow Never Comes. Deyemi also starred with A-list actors like Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Daniel Etim Effiong in Africa’s first legal series ‘Castle and Castle’ shown exclusively on Netflix.

Apart from Acting, Deyemi runs an entertainment service named ‘Covenant Entertainment Services,’ which he started in 2015. Later on, he became a consultant for Silverbird Film Distribution.

Years later, he became the marketing manager of Silverbird Distribution and then the head of Nollywood and independent movie distribution. He subsequently became the company’s acting CEO.

  • Best Supporting Actor (English) for his role in ‘Levi’ at the 2019 Best of Nollywood Awards – Nomination
  • Best Actor in A Comedy for his role in ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ at the 2022 AMVCA – Nomination
