Personal Life (Early/recent)

Daniel Etim is from the Efik tribe in Cross River State, Nigeria. He was born in Jaji, Kaduna State, on June 24, 1988. His dad is the former Lt. Col Moses Effiong.

He attended St. Mary’s Private School in Lagos, and the Government College, Ikorodu, Lagos, respectively. Afterward, he enrolled in the Federal University of Technology, Minna, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering.

Daniel later went to AFDA Film School in South Africa to study scriptwriting, filmmaking, and directing. He also attended the University of Johannesburg in South Africa to learn filmmaking.

Daniel Etim is married to Toyosi Philip, a digital media strategist, creator, and TV producer.

The couple met on Instagram when she reached out to him for collaboration on a project. They later bumped into each other during another project and started dating. Their marriage has been on for six years, and they had two children together.

Career In The Nollywood Industry

Daniel worked as an engineer in the Oil and Gas sector for a short time before he became a Nollywood actor. Immediately he quit his job as an engineer, he got employed as a content producer for Ndani Television. His first acting role was in the web series ‘Goddamit It’s Monday’ in 2011. He also played a role in ‘Gidi Up’ as Folarin.

In 2018, he starred alongside A-list Nigerian actors like Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Deyemi Okanlawon in Nigeria’s first legal series ‘Castle and Castle.’ The TV series is currently streamed on Netflix.

Daniel Etim Effiong played a role in the comedy movie ‘Plan B’ where he acted as Dele Coker. His role in the film made him the Best Actor in a Comedy (Movie/TV Series) as awarded at the 2020 AMVCA.

He also starred with Ayoola Ayolola, Baaj Adebule, and Efa Iwara in the award-winning TV series ‘The Men’s Club.’
