Who Is Daniel Amartey?
Daniel Amartey is a Ghanaian well-known for his achievements in sports, particularly football. He stands tall at 6′ 1″ and plays as a midfielder or defender.
Amartey is currently part of the Süper Lig club, Beşiktaş. He also represents the Ghana national team.
Personal Life (Early/recent)
Daniel Amartey lived most of his life in Ghana before moving to Europe to pursue his football career.
He hasn’t disclosed much information about his family and educational background, as he prefers to keep them private. However, his father, Louis Amartey, is late, while his mother is still alive. He has a brother called Emmanuel.
Daniel is married to Naa Shika Addy, for nearly a decade now. She’s a Ghanaian too, and they have two sons together.
Daniel Amartey has been playing football since 2010, while attending International Allies’ youth academy in Tema, Greater Accra. He played for the International Allies FC until 2012 and joined Djurgårdens IF Fotbollsförening the following year. His debut game with Ghana U-20 was against Nigeria, and subsequently played in the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
He left Djurgårdens IF in 2014, after 34 appearances in football games. That same year, he joined FC Copenhagen, and was able to appear in 44 games and score three goals before leaving the team in 2016.
In January 2016, he started playing for Leicester City FC until he left on June 5, 2023, after the club’s relegation from the Premier League. He left alongside six other team players, including Tetê (Mateus Cardoso Lemos Martins), Youri Tielemans, Nampalys Mendy, Çağlar Söyüncü, Ayoze Pérez, and Ryan Bertrand. Daniel left Leicester City after making his greatest appearances in a football team, which summed up to 106.
Since then, he has been playing for Beşiktaş (Beşiktaş Gymnastics Club), where he has appeared in more than two games. He plays for the team, wearing the jersey #12.
Daniel Amartey played six times at the AFCON 2017, lasting 90 minutes in each match to enable his country, Ghana to come fourth in the match.
He also featured in the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon, but the Ghana national team was disqualified when the game just started.
Daniel broke his ankle in a game against West Ham United FC in October 2018, which made it impossible for him to participate in the 2018–19 Leicester City season.
As regards his international career, he appeared in two games for the Ghana national under-20 football team between 2012 and 2014. He has also been representing Ghana in men’s international football since 2015. So far, he has appeared in 52 football matches for the team.
