Who are the Birmingham Stallions?

The Birmingham Stallions is a football team that is part of the United States Football League’s South division. Their headquarters is in Birmingham, Alabama, where they play their home games at the Protective Stadium. They are presently USFL’s current champions, having won a game against the Pittsburgh Maulers in Canton, Ohio, on July 1, 2023.

The Stallions’ official team colors are red, white, and gold. They have won two League Championships, two Conference Championships, and two Division Championships between 2022 and 2023.

History

The Birmingham Stallions was created on November 22, 2021, as announced on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, a US-based sports talk radio show. The football team was founded with eight other teams, including the Houston Gamblers, the Michigan Panthers, and the New Jersey Generals.

Their current head coach is Skip Holtz, even though a former NCAA coach, Gene Chizik, was initially announced on The Herd radio show on January 6, 2022. Chizik eventually became another team’s defensive coordinator in North Carolina.

The Birmingham Stallions completed the 2022 regular season, winning 9–1 in USFL’s South division title. Hosting their first Division Championship game, the Stallions won 31–17 against the New Orleans Breakers and won the 2022 USFL Championship as well.

On July 3, 2022, the team played against the Philadelphia Stars at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, which Scooby Wright helped the team to win.

Subsequent to the 2022 season, the Birmingham Stallions made Zachary Potter their general manager after being their team director during the last season.
