Who is Tyree Robinson?

Tyree Robinson is a professional American football safety for the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). He played at the university where he finished as a two-time All-Pac-12 selection.

The San Francisco 49ers drafted him in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. This is due to his exceptional football skills.

From an early age, Tyree displayed a natural talent for football. He captured the attention of coaches and peers with his athleticism and dedication to the sport within a short period. Today, Tyree Robinson is a free agent in football.

The Early Beginnings of Tyree Robinson

Robinson was born on April 14, 1994, and raised in San Diego, California. He attended Lincoln High School, where he was a standout football and basketball player.

While in high school, Tyree played football, basketball, and volleyball. He was a two-time all-league selection in football and basketball.

Robinson continued to improve as a junior, recording 60 tackles, four interceptions, and 10 passes defensed. He was named to the All-Pac-12 first team. He had a down year as a senior, but he still finished the season with 45 tackles and one interception.

Also, he was a member of the California State Championship volleyball team in 2011. They named him to the All-San Diego Section second-team on offense as a junior and to the All-State Grid-Hoop Team as a senior.

Several major colleges recruited the football safety player, but he chose to attend Oregon. He played in 49 games for the Ducks, recording 157 tackles, 11 interceptions, and 22 pass deflections.

Soon after, while in college, Tyree Robinson was waived by the 49ers in 2019 and signed by the Dallas Cowboys. Thereafter, the Dallas Cowboys were released after training camp.

Ultimately, the Cowboys decided that Robinson was not a good fit for their team. He was a young player with potential. However, he didn’t have the experience or the production that the Cowboys were looking for. In the end, Robinson finished college as a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention selection.

Journey to Greatness as a Football Player

After graduating from Oregon, Tyree Robinson went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft. He signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent, but he was released during training camp.

Robinson then signed with the San Francisco 49ers. The following year, he signed with the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL). 

Tyree Robinson played in 10 games for the Stallions, recording 37 tackles and one interception. He was named to the All-USFL Second Team.

Robinson signed with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL after playing with Birmingham for four years. He signed a new jersey this year and has appeared in 10 games with nine starts at safety.

So far, Tyree Robinson has recorded 45 tackles (one for loss), one interception, and seven pass deflections. Below are the achievements of Tyree Robinson from day 1 in football till date:

  • 2x All-Pac-12 in 2016 and 2017.
  • 1x USFL All-Star in 2023.
  • 1x USFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.
