Malevy Leons was born in IJmuiden, Netherlands, to Iwan and Monique Leons. He was born on September 23, 1999. Leons has an elder brother, Benicio, who is a professional basketball player; he once played for Europe.

Benicio has always been there for Malevy to offer him advice and support; he has helped him become the player he is today.

Leon’s family has been a constant pillar of support throughout his basketball career, and they have always encouraged him to pursue his dreams. His love for basketball was ignited at an early age. He is nurtured by the vibrant basketball culture of his hometown and the encouragement of his family.

Malevy Leone’s father, Iwan Leons, a former basketball player, instilled in him a love for the sport. He spent countless hours honing his skills on the court, developing a versatile skill set that would later become his trademark.

As a teenager, Leon’s talent caught the attention of European basketball scouts. Thus leading him to pursue a professional career in the Netherlands.

He played two seasons for Apollo Amsterdam in the Dutch Basketball League, where he did his high school. Thereby gaining valuable experience and showcasing his abilities on a larger stage.

Basketball Career of Malevy Leons

In 2019, Malevy Leons embarked on a new chapter in his basketball career. He made the bold decision to pursue collegiate basketball in the United States. He enrolled at Mineral Area College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where he quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with.

During his two seasons at Mineral Area College, Leons averaged an impressive 18.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. This earned him numerous accolades, including the David Rowlands NJCAA Male Student-Athlete of the Year. Plus, the NJCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Player of the Year and the NABC Two-Year College Player of the Year.

After two successful seasons at Mineral Area College, Leons transferred to Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. In his first season at Bradley, Leons averaged 14.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Though Malevy hasn’t gone far with the university, he has earned the prestigious MVC Newcomer of the Year award. As well as a spot on the first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference. Leons’ success at Bradley University solidified his position as a rising star in college basketball.

Malevy Leons is a versatile forward basketball player. He possesses a combination of athleticism, skill, and basketball IQ that makes him a valuable asset on both ends of the court.
