Dawson Garcia is a college basketball player for the North Carolina Tar Heels of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He played high school basketball for Prior Lake High School in Prior Lake, Minnesota.

While in high school, Dawson was a four-star recruit and the state’s 2021 Gatorade Player of the Year. Garcia is a young basketball player who’s 6’11” tall and a 230-pound power forward. He is a skilled scorer and rebounder with a good outside shot. He is also a solid defender with a promising future.

Dawson Garcia was born on September 20, 2001, in Burnsville, Minnesota. He is the son of David and Jennifer Garcia. He has two younger brothers, Cole and Dylan.

Garcia’s father, David, is a former college basketball player at the University of North Dakota. His mother, Jennifer, is a former cheerleader at the University of Minnesota.

Garcia has two brothers, namely Cole and Dylan, and they’re also athletes. Cole is a football player, while Dylan is a hockey player.

Dawson Garcia attended his high school in Prior Lake in Savage, Minnesota. He was a four-year starter and a three-time All-State selection.

Additionally, Garcia led Prior Lake to three state tournament appearances, including a Class 4A state championship in 2018. He was also named Mr. Basketball of Minnesota in 2019.

Career

Dawson soon became a highly sought-after recruit out of high school. He was ranked as a four-star prospect by Rivals, Scout, and 247Sports.

In April 2019, Dawson became committed to Marquette. However, he soon reopened his recruitment after head coach Steve Wojciechowski was fired in March 2020. He ultimately signed with North Carolina in May 2020.

Dawson Garcia played one season at North Carolina, where he averaged 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He transferred to Marquette in April 2021.

While at Marquette, he played two seasons where he averaged 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. They named him the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2021. Garcia transferred to Minnesota in April 2022.
