Who is Chris Blewitt?

Chris Blewitt, whose full name is Christopher Blewitt, is an American football player who is a placekicker for the Birmingham Stallions football team. He stands at 5’ 9” and weighs 170 pounds.

Before joining Birmingham Stallions, he played for some professional football teams, including the Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Maulers.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Chris Blewitt was born on May 2, 1995, in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. He attended West Potomac High School in Fairfax County, Virginia, where he was one of the top kickers in his class during his junior and senior years.

The University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania awarded him a scholarship in 2012 due to his standout performance at its specialist camp. Chris broke multiple records as a freshman, starting as the school’s team kicker in 2013. He won a single-elimination field-goal contest, as well as the camp’s kickoff competition.

Chris led the Pittsburgh Panthers throughout 2014 and 2015 based on scoring and graduated in 2016 as an all-time leader in field goals scored and second all-time in total points.

Scout rated him as one of the Top 40 Overall Prospects in Virginia.

Career

Chris Blewitt was undrafted in 2017 and received an invitation to join the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie minicamp in 2017 without a signing contract. Chicago Bears football team later signed him on March 6, 2019, but waived him about three months later on June 12, 2019.

In October 2021, the Washington Football Team signed Chris into their practice squad and added him to their active roster after releasing their kicker, Dustin Hopkins, on October 20. The team waived him on November 9 when he attempted to score three field goals but didn’t succeed over two weeks.

The Cleveland Browns football team signed Chris Blewitt into their practice squad on December 29, 2021. He also signed a reserve/futures contract with the team the following year on January 11, 2022, and became a free agent after his release on May 2.

On April 27, 2023, the Pittsburgh Maulers football team signed him and later added him to their inactive players’ roster.

His debut game in the United States Football League (USFL) was against the Philadelphia Stars on April 30, 2023, in which he tied a league record with five field goals in the team’s initial win for the season.

As a result, he was named the “USFL Special Teams Player of the Week” due to his superb performance. Pittsburgh Maulers dissolved shortly after due to XFL and USFL’s merger to form the United Football League (UFL).

On January 5, 2024, Chris Blewitt joined the Birmingham Stallions football team, being part of the players selected in the 2024 UFL dispersal draft.
