Who Is Babs Ogundeyi?

Babs Ogundeyi is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-founder of Kuda Technologies, now called Kuda Microfinance Bank.

Personal Life (Early/recent)

Babs Ogundeyi is married with kids, although information on his spouse and number of kids is undisclosed. He was brought up in England, UK, which is the same country he completed his primary, secondary, and higher education.

Babs attended The Downs School in Compton, Berkshire, and King’s College in Taunton, England. He earned his first degree, a BA (Honours) in Business Studies & Accounting, at Brunel University London.

His precise age is unknown, even though it is believed that he is in his mid-40s.

Babs was part of the Athletics team while studying at Brunel University London. While in college, he participated in the 1st XV Rugby and the 1st XI Hockey, being part of the County & West of England Athletics team.

Career – Everywhere Babs Ogundeyi Has Worked

Babs Ogundeyi has experience as a financial advisor, accountant, entrepreneur, and Investor. He was the Special Adviser on Finance to Late Isiaka Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi during his first tenure as the Governor of Oyo State. It lasted from June 2011 to May 2015.

He was also the advisor of some of Africa’s top banks while working at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Babs held the company’s Engagement Manager position for nearly eight years, from October 2002 to March 2010.

Moreover, Babs co-founded Motortrader Nigeria between 2002 and 2003, which was Nigeria’s first classified ad car magazine. Barely one year after its establishment, it was acquired by one of the largest Newspaper companies in Nigeria.

Babs Ogundeyi also worked at Redbrick Limited from March 2010 to June 2011, and held the Partner and Financial Advisory position. Redbrick is a Lagos-based property development company still in operation. It is now known as Redbrick Homes International Limited.

Fast forward to 2017, Babs Ogundeyi, alongside Musty Mustapha, founded Kuda Technology, aka Kuda Bank, in January. It’s a financial technology company headquartered in London, UK, but operating in Nigeria.

The company offers affordable financial services and is popular for not charging card maintenance fees and allowing free funds transfer. It also allows its customers to save funds automatically from their accounts. Kuda is worth about $500 million and has several investors.

Kuda was among the establishments in the WEF’s Technology Pioneers’ List of 2021.

The company has raised over $91 million from its institutional investors, including Target Global, Startupbootcamp, and Valar Ventures.
