Its organizers are Live Nation, Smade Entertainment, Memories of Tomorrow, and Event Horizon.

The festival takes place between March to August. It is held for three days in various countries, including Portugal, the United States, Ghana, Mexico, and Puerto Rico.

However, Afro Nation plans to launch a new edition of the music festival in Lagos, Nigeria, in 2023. This edition is expected to be one of Nigeria’s biggest events for the year.

Many African and international artists have performed at the event. These include Wizkid, Burna Boy, King Promise, Tiwa Savage, Vanessa Mdee, Ruger, Patoranking, Naira Marley, Stefflon Don, Laycon, Niniola, etc.

On September 26, 2021, it collaborated with the Official Charts Company to create the official weekly UK Afrobeats Chart Show hosted by Eddie Kadi on BBC Radio 1Xtra.

History – Starting as an Annual Four-day Event

Afro Nation started as a four-day music festival until July 17, 2020, when it eventually became a three-day event. But before then, it was nominated at the UK Festival Awards 2019 for the Best Overseas Festival category.

Its second edition was supposed to hold very early but was postponed to July 1, 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, whose outbreak had caused social distancing.

It featured songs by SMADE, Lighter Tod, Ice Prince, Slim Kofi, Br3nya, Joey B, Oxlade, Kuami Eugene, Medikal, Terry Apala, Reekado Banks, Bisa Kdei, Eddie Kadi, Adekunle Gold, and Eugy.
